Hey y'all, it's been a hectic few weeks. Everything that we know has changed. To quote the wise Will Smith "My life got flipped-turned upside down". I don't know about you, but this Coronavirus and quarantine have got me super bummed out. I don't get to see any of you guys, I don't get to see my friends, and I don't get to see my teachers. (I know right, NERD ALERT!)
I hope that you have been outside enjoying this weather. It's been amazing outside, almost as if nature doesn't have any clue how we feel or even care. But you know what? Maybe that's the point. It's showing us that the world still spins, even when it feels like the greatest tragedy has happened.
As most of you know, I am a giant Disney nerd. I'm not ashamed. And this Coronavirus has got me feeling just like a princess. It's got me feeling like "I wanna be where the people are" and "When will my life begin" and "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell". Yet, even Moana said, "You must find happiness right where you are". Boy did she ever have it right.
Life seems pretty awful right now, but you know what? I'm still here. You're still here. The sun still rises and sets. The world still spins. It has not ended. And you know what else? God's still here. In fact he never left. You know what one of the most comforting things throughout all this is? God isn't surprised by any of this. And I can tell him anything about how I'm feeling. He can handle it. He isn't surprised by my feelings. He knows that I am bummed out. He knows if you are feeling anxious, or scared, or just plain ole bored.
Don't believe me?
Deuteronomy 31:8 says "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Joshua 1:9 says "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 9:9 says "TheLord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."
Lamentations 3:31-33 says "For no one is cast off
by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone."
John 14:27 says "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Isaiah 41:10 says "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Zephania 3:17 says "TheLord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
And lastly, Romans 8:38-39 says "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Guess what? God is still here. I encourage you to reach out to myself, Jon, Sherman, Aimee, or any other trusted adult if you are struggling. We love you guys and we are ALWAYS here and available to talk or pray with you. I hope these verses can encourage you through these uncertain times. I love and miss you all so much.
